Our client is a rapidly growing, web transaction performance
monitoring solutions. Their customers include some of the most
respected names in the world, including Fortune 1000 companies and
service providers throughout North America and Europe.

Scope of Position & requirements:

· As a member of our client's software development group, you will the
owner of one of our product's embedded database subsystem. This
responsibility ranges from the appropriate deployment and support of
the underlying technology, as well as the design of database schema
that supports our award winning application and product line.
· You demonstrate expert knowledge of Oracle's database engine and are
able to fully leverage its capabilities in an embedded environment.
Your ability to configure and tune it to achieve performance
objectives is widely recognized. In particular, you are proficient in
writing PL/SQL code within stored procedures and database loading
environments.
· You understand the challenges of embedding relational technology in
an appliance, with respect to performance, stability and autonomic
manageability. You have experienced the engineering tradeoffs related
to real-time, high volume data processing versus application-level
querying capability and performance.
· In addition, your communications skills in a highly dynamic, multi-
disciplinary environment will help make your contribution to central
to our product development effort.

Prerequisites:
· University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related fields
· 5+ years of professional experience developing and maintaining
complex software systems
· 5+ years doing database design, deployment and support of Oracle,
preferably in an embedded environment
· Excellent knowledge of the Oracle database engine and its ETL
related features
· Good knowledge of Linux or Unix platforms
· Experience in a MicroStrategy environment would be considered an
asset.
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
· A strong commitment to timelines and product deliverables
· The drive, enthusiasm and desire required in a highly dynamic work
environment that must compete in a global technology market

Specific duties:

· Support the deployment of Oracle 10g in our client's product line.
Includes technology selection, configuration, tuning and peripheral
scripts and procedures.
· Own and design the database subsystem: design the logical schema,
tables and indices to support the required functionality while
reaching performance objectives.
· Contribute heavily in the architectural stages of development.
· Manage multiple instances of Oracle databases
· Design and maintain physical database model
· Define backup and restore strategy for the product
· Prepare database migration and upgrade procedures
· Create and maintain scripts for loading different star schemas using
dynamic SQL in stored procedures.
